This is our 10th short film project. Filming will take place in mid April with a location to be confirmed, but we're frantically looking for the right space to convey our story.

Synopsis:​

Under his favourite tree Brian, setting out a picnic to celebrate his late wife, imagines committing suicide by dangling from the tree. He is interrupted by Phil, a stranger with his own agenda. In the following interaction we find out that Brian’s late wife died in child birth five years previous and Brian hasn’t been able to get over the loss and is not coping well. He can’t even look at his daughter as she reminds him of his dead wife too much. His secret is that he has a thick nylon rope at the bottom of the picnic basket. Waiting to be used?​

 

Phil’s reveals that, over the years, he’s been forced to nurse his very elderly parent. Losing his mother recently and the strain of his father suffering from dementia has brought him to breaking point. His secret is he’s has brought a rope too. As he wraps it round Brian’s neck he whispers that he’s already used the rope on his elderly father, not because of the dementia but just because he’d had enough, and maybe he's a little bit of a psychopath.

 

As he lights his cigarette Brian’s feet dangles above the picnic basket.
