ALLOTMENT BLUES
ALLOTMENT BLUES
After the death of their father Derek, estranged brothers Paul and Stevie reunite at his meticulously kept allotment to scatter his ashes. What begins as an awkward afternoon shaped by old habits, quiet resentment and dark humour changes when they discover a buried biscuit tin hidden beneath the compost heap.
Inside are a series of carefully preserved objects: a watch, old betting slips placed when each son was born, a photograph from a forgotten family day out, and a letter Derek never managed to say aloud in life.
As the brothers sift through the fragments their father left behind, the allotment becomes more than a garden. It becomes a record of a man who struggled to express affection directly, but documented it all the same.
